A homegrown and top performer is staying at HSV Hamburg even longer: the handball Bundesliga team announced an early Christmas present for the fans.
Dominik Axmann comes from the HSV Hamburg youth team. The 25-year-old has now committed himself to HSVH for two more seasons: The backcourt player has extended his contract, which expires at the end of the season, until June 30, 2027, as the Bundesliga club announced on Monday.
Axmann came to HSVH as a youth player in 2015 and was promoted from the 3rd league to the Bundesliga with the Hanseatic League. “It’s a great fit here, both in terms of sport and private life. That’s why I’m very happy that things are continuing here,” said Axmann.
Sports director Johannes Bitter, who was in HSVH’s goal for the last time on Sunday against SG Flensburg-Handewitt (32:32), is convinced of the qualities of the right-hander Axmann: “He has always been extremely valuable for us in defense gives us a lot of options because he can be used very variably and he can also cause a lot of danger in attack with his one-on-one, his punches and now also his jump shots.”
