HSV fans protest against Kühne

Hamburger SV football fans protested against Klaus-Michael Kühne during the second division game at Arminia Bielefeld.

With banners (“Anchored in the statutes”, “75+1 non-negotiable”, “Kühne piss you off”), the supporters reacted to the multi-billionaire’s offer during their team’s 2-0 win. The 85-year-old, who lives in Switzerland, published this on Thursday via his holding company.

Bold offer provides that he gives 120 million euros in the club’s football AG. At the same time, he is expanding his influence and power. Among other things, he wants to reduce the supervisory board to five members and have two seats instead of one as before.

A central point is that Kühne wants to increase his stake in the AG from the current 15.21 to around 39.90 percent. Another ten percent would hold smaller shareholders. HSV eV is to reduce its stake from 75.1 to 50.1 percent. He promises 60 million to 80 million euros for this. This would require a change in the statutes of the association, which requires a three-quarters majority at a general meeting. It is considered unlikely that this will happen.

HSV has not yet responded to Kühne’s offer

In addition, the native of Hamburg wants to pay a total of up to 40 million euros for the naming rights to the Volksparkstadion over the next ten years. The arena should then be called the Uwe-Seeler-Stadion – in memory of the club legend who died in July.

The supervisory board of the AG, headed by HSV President Marcell Jansen, has not yet responded to the offer. The topic was also not mentioned in the press release on the results of the panel’s meeting on Friday evening.

Kühne has held shares in the AG for several years and is one of the most important financiers. However, he repeatedly caused unrest with his statements about HSV.
