Surprise in the cup
HSV changes goalkeeper – and relies on Bayern loan

HSV has a new man between the posts in the cup. Daniel Peretz receives trust for the first time – after weeks of waiting.
Hamburger SV relies on rotation and goes into the DFB Cup game at 1. FC Heidenheim with goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. Coach Merlin Polzin confirmed before the second round duel on Tuesday: “He deserves this because of his training performance and leadership qualities.”
Peretz, who was on loan from FC Bayern and moved to Hamburg in the summer, lost the duel for the HSV goal against promotion hero Daniel Heuer Fernandes during preparation and later expressed dissatisfaction.
He said on Israeli television after the most recent international match against Norway: “It’s obvious that I’m disappointed that I’m not playing in Hamburg. I didn’t think I wouldn’t be used,” he told the “Sport 5” channel. “It was actually clear that I would play.”
Peretz was so angry about this that he even talked about ending the loan deal early. “I’m fighting the situation mentally. Maybe there will be a change in January because I really want to play.”
Now, after a long wait, the Israeli national goalkeeper gets his first competitive appearance in the Bundesliga club’s jersey (from 6.30 p.m. in the t-online live ticker).
