Eva Jinek is quite prominent on the cover of the latest Weekend. The entertainment magazine wonders how long the 44-year-old television millionaire will remain on television with her talk show.
Eva Jinek’s career seems to be in a bit of a dip. After her switch from the NPO to RTL, she turned out not to be the viewership magnet that was hoped. Story magazine even states that her TV career is heading for a free fall. Fons van Westerloo fears that Eva can only stop the massive criticism with a successful comeback.
Half a year Jinek
However, columnist Jan Dijkgraaf has a hard head about this and fears that it will not work out for Eva and her viewing figures. He thinks that RTL is deeply disappointed. “RTL 4 thought: well, then that Jinek will take a lot of viewers from the NPO and that will be our viewing figure gun. Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching, cashier, cashier, cashier.”
He continues in his podcast Nasty Boys: “They thought: and then in the summer we’ll do Beau or Humberto for a few weeks. But Mrs. Jinek has decided that she only works for six months a year at the most.”
‘How long?’
In a little over a month, Eva will wake up from her extra long summer sleep. Meanwhile, weekly magazine Weekend wonders whether she still wants to continue with her talk show. Will she give up on RTL after a few years, or a few million euros later? ‘Eva Jinek’s guilt: how long will she continue to do her talk show?’, headlines the magazine.
De Weekend has watched Eva’s women’s complaint documentary on Videoland and is quite concerned about it. “Eva Jinek is in a constant battle with herself. On the one hand she just wants to work, on the other she has great feelings of guilt towards her son Pax.”
‘It eats me up’
Eva finds it terribly difficult to leave home for her talk show and leave her child behind. “My husband Dexter is at home looking after Pax and there could be no better father than him. There is no man who cares more about his child. And yet it eats into me,” she says in that documentary.
It’s hard to live with, says Eva. “Sometimes I pretend I forgot my keys to go back home to give Pax one last kiss. Then I walk out the door again and the feeling starts all over again. Then I spend the whole day negotiating with myself.”
not a good mother
Since her husband Dexter van der Voorn would never be able to cough up the mortgage with his work, Eva ensures that enough money flows in. “You just have to make money. You have to support your family, it is important for people to work.”
But according to the Weekend, it could just be that Eva will no longer be able to handle that. “There’s that feeling inside that I’m leaving my child behind and I wouldn’t be a good mother for doing that. And the endless negotiation about something that makes no sense is driving me insane.”
