For my sports moment we have to go back to March 2024. That was when I first met Edwin Janssen, the new coach of the women of VZV.
Somewhere between ‘t Veld and nearby Zijdewind there is a small farm where Edwin camps. I initially knock on the neighbor’s bulb shed, where I ask if the VZV handball coach lives here. The neighbor looks at me strangely, but he says I should probably be in the yard next door.
Cows and sheep
The neighbor is right. Because as soon as I drive into the adjacent yard, Edwin is already waiting for me. There among the cows and sheep in the North Holland countryside, he devises new training methods every week, analyzes opponents and prepares himself and his team as best as possible for the next match.
