How a forgotten Surinamese composer is back in the spotlight today

This week the Concertgebouw Orchestra will play the opera by the Surinamese composer Johannes Helstone for the first time. A great man of his time, but virtually unknown in the Netherlands, says correspondent Nina Jurna. How could someone of his stature have fallen into such oblivion?
