Dear All,
After the triangular consultation, it has just been decided that the night of Winschoten / dancing on the square should not take place in view of last week’s incidents. All the effort and energy that we as an organization put into this weekend has been wiped off the table in 1 fell swoop.
The stage was set, the tents were set up and the delivery arrived. We also didn’t know where we stood for a long time because nothing had been communicated to us about what the plans were exactly. For this reason we just started building up what should be such a beautiful weekend.
On behalf of all catering establishments on the market square, we think this is a dark page in the most enjoyable weekend of the year for years (!!).
We all put the safety of all visitors first and find it appalling that this cannot be guaranteed at the moment. A café should be a place with a friendly atmosphere and this atmosphere is not present at the moment.
With pain in our hearts, all cafes located on the market square have therefore decided to keep their doors closed this Friday and Saturday.
