Hooligans PEC Zwolle attack young people and pelt police after defeat

A group of about forty away supporters of PEC Zwolle assaulted a number of young people on Friday evening and pelted the police with stones, street furniture and full cans of beer. That happened on Friday evening after a 4-2 defeat at FC Eindhoven outside the Jan Louwers Stadium, the police reported. One man has been arrested.

It was also restless in the stadium during the match. Among other things, there were a few fights in the branch. After the game, the group of about forty supporters sought confrontation. Upon leaving, this group walked straight to a nearby hockey field, where a number of young people were playing football.

The hooligans threatened the young people on the hockey field and they dealt some blows. One boy suffered facial injuries, police said.

Baton and police dog
The group then also confronted the police. They threw stones, street furniture and full cans of beer. Again there were brawls among the supporters. The baton was used by the police, a police dog was also deployed. One rioter was bitten in the leg, but he managed to escape.

On the Bram Venemalaan, the police were able to force the group in the direction of the buses. An hour after the game ended, they were on the buses and left.

Research
Because the emphasis was on restoring order, only one arrest was made, the police said. An investigation has been launched to track down other rioters. She is looking for witnesses and calls for images to be shared with them.

We have approached PEC Zwolle by telephone for comment, but they are not available.

Fireworks
Also at Helmond Sport – MVV, a number of supporters did not behave. The game was temporarily stopped after fireworks were thrown onto the field from the away section. After the ‘lighter incident’ at the Feyenoord-Ajax cup match, the KNVB introduced a new rule: if objects are thrown on the field, matches will be stopped immediately. That also happened in Helmond.
