Hoogeveen is fighting against the arrival of a solar park and is opting for an appeal

The municipality of Hoogeveen is appealing against a court ruling on a solar park at Wilfred Stillweg in Hollandscheveld. According to the judge, the permit was wrongly refused, and the municipality does not agree with this.

Initiator Emission Projects wants to build a 2.5 hectare solar park near the Wilfred Stillweg. Politics in Hoogeveen rejected that plan in 2022. There would be insufficient support from local residents. The initiator took a step to court and that turned out well. According to the judge, too little support is not a strict requirement for not granting the permit.

The court has indicated that Hoogeveen must reconsider the application for the permit. “We cannot agree with the ruling and have filed an appeal,” the municipality wrote in a letter to the city council.

There are also plans for a small solar park along the Langedijk. Local residents went to court to challenge the permit. Here too, a lack of support was put forward as an argument by local residents, but without success. “The application for the construction of the park remains intact,” writes the municipality of Hoogeveen.
