Holiday work: picking berries, pasting labels and cutting sunflowers

While many people stop working in the summer and enjoy a nice holiday, reporters Robbert Oosting and Vera Beuke get to work. They dive into the world of holiday jobs.

Robbert and Vera started their careers in summer jobs, both in the agricultural sector. Robbert was budding lilies as a teenager and Vera picked cucumbers in a greenhouse. That’s why they start this week at Fruitbedrijf de Marwijkshof in Marwijksoord.

It is not possible to start the day quietly. It will rain heavily around the coffee break and so as much outdoor work as possible should be done before the rain shower. The holiday workers start picking the sunflowers, because they have to go to the florist in the village the same day. Then raspberries, blueberries and red currants are picked.
