In Lillehammer, two German ski jumpers knew how to impress. For another, things didn’t go well again.
Great success for ski jumper Felix Hoffmann in Lillehammer. The 28-year-old made two jumps over 139 and 138 meters in the Großchance individual competition on Sunday. That resulted in 286.2 points, enough for third place and thus his first podium finish in the World Cup.
Teammate Philipp Raimund was right behind Hoffmann. He jumped 134.5 meters in the first round and 137.5 in the second (285.4 points). Meanwhile, things didn’t go well for Andreas Wellinger again. The 30-year-old was eliminated in the first round with just 123.5 meters. For Wellinger it will be a start to the season to forget. In the first competition on Saturday, the Olympic champion, like Pius Paschke, had already missed qualification.
“It’s really a challenge at the moment,” said Wellinger afterwards at Eurosport. “I have had many challenges in my ski jumping career and now I have another one that needs to be solved. I also know that it can be solved.”
The winner on Sunday was the Japanese Ryōyū Kobayashi (290.5 points). The Slovenian Domen Prevc came second (287.3 points). Karl Geiger ended up in 23rd place. Pius Paschke ended up in 27th place.
