Arch enemies Bruce Springsteen and President Donald Trump were present in New York at the men’s finals on Sunday. It was the first time since her argument in summer that the singer and the president were in the same place.
Celebrities in the audience
The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was delayed by almost 30 minutes due to security measures related to Trump’s arrival. His appearance in the Rolex lodge at the Arthur Ashe stage was accompanied by Buhrfufen. When the game finally started, the arena was not yet fully occupied due to additional controls.
While the spectators gradually sat down, TV cameras Bruce Springsteen discovered in the celebrity area, together with Sting, Ben Stiller and other guests.
Springsteen had repeatedly criticized Trump since his candidacy in 2015. He attacked him particularly sharply at the start of his European tour in 2025 when he described the government as “corrupt, incompetent and treacherous”.
Trump’s counterattacks
As expected, Trump reacted violently. On Truth Social, he called Springsteen “stupid like a stone” and mocked: “This dry plum should be kept by a rocker until it is back in the country.”
Three days later, Trump followed up and attacked Springsteen in a confused post in which he also mentioned Bono, Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé. He claimed that Springsteen had accepted money from Kamala Harris for appearances – which he represented as an illegal campaign donation – and demanded a “big investigation”.
Solidarity from the music scene
As expected, the music world stood behind Springsteen. Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Bono, Jason Isbell and many others publicly explain their support.
In the tennis language that would mean: game, sentence, victory.
