“It was a bizarre competition, not normal how exciting.” Anja de Ridder from Den Bosch was one of the supporters who saw Heroes den Bosch take the national cup on Sunday afternoon. In a sensational competition, the basketball players from Donar from Groningen were defeated with 90-85. “I became ten years older today.” Later in the evening the party was transferred during a ceremony in the home port.
Mandy Creutzburg has been a volunteer at the Bossche Club for many years, but rarely saw such a sizzling competition. “At a certain point it was so exciting that I couldn’t even scream anymore. Fortunately we can now start partying, that is always going well in Den Bosch.”

Esther van der Velden from Rosmalen calls the final ‘Very good advertisement for the sport’. “This was a brilliant match in which the penny was happy our side. My heartbeat was never under 100 I just looked back. We were jumping with the supporters for minutes to encourage the team. After the decisive point there was a huge discharge. This cup is very beautiful, but we also want to become a champion.”
Nick van de Veerdonk from Oss was quite relaxed at the competition in Sportcampus Zuiderpark in The Hague. “I basketball myself and look a little tactically at the game. I am not very emotional. I am of course happy and I think the Dutch title will be realistic later. That would be very nice and I also enjoy the geniality. You can get so close to the players here.”

Before the players arrived in the Maaspoort in Den Bosch, the fans had long had arrived. The reason was a doping check that took the necessary time. For player Luuk van Bree from Helmond it was his first prize at the Bosschenaren. “It was not the very best match, that actually belongs to a final. The relief was very large when we crossed the line. Now we can celebrate a party and this week we will get back to work. There is still a very important phase of the season, this cup win tastes like more.”

The ninth cup win gives Clubbezer Bob van Oosterhout a wonderful feeling. He thinks back to the end of 2024 when the club started the new season dramatically. “We had crisis meeting here, the supporters were dissatisfied. There was a lot of pressure with me, among other things, but as a club we stayed calm. After a few strategic adjustments we are now celebrating a cup. And that after a competition that was nailing biting.”
Van Oosterhout is not yet satisfied, because the national title is the main goal. “We have the most quality in our selection, but last year that was no guarantee for the title. As Heroes Den Bosch we are obliged to celebrate a national title once every few years. Fortunately, that is very much alive with the group.”
