Omar Alderete (25) will return to Berlin on Monday. According to BZ information, the central defender’s move to Spain has initially fallen through – bitter news for the capital club’s transfer planning.
Alderete has been in Madrid for some time and should bring his departure to Getafe to fruition. Hertha and the LaLiga club agreed on a change for Paraguay’s international.
The clubs are said to have agreed on a base fee of around four million euros, Hertha secured the prospect of a lavish resale participation.
But the urgently hoped-for money will not flow to Berlin for the time being. According to reports, the player side did not agree with Getafe, so the deal is off the table.
Another setback for Hertha’s transfer plans with the Alderete personnel. A sale to Valencia, where the left-footed player played 29 league games on loan last season, failed at the beginning of the summer. At that time there was a purchase option of around 7.5 million euros, which the Spaniards did not activate.

Now the Hertha managers around manager Fredi Bobic (50) are looking for a new buyer – so that Alderete (market value 10 million euros) can quickly find a new club and the Berliners can quickly get fresh money.
