Hertha hammer after the 0: 2 derby defeat against Union!

Sports director Fredi Bobic (51) is gone!

A club statement said: “Fredi Bobic is no longer Managing Director Sport at Hertha BSC. The Presidium, together with the Supervisory Board of Hertha BSC e. V. decided unanimously to release its Managing Director Sport, Fredi Bobic, from his duties with immediate effect.”

The club invites you to a press conference on Sunday at 1 p.m.

According to BILD information, the Hertha players learned about Bobic from the media. Coach Sandro Schwarz (44) and his team knew before the official announcement.

Hertha President Kay Bernstein had invited to a meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the stadium before the game, according to the invitation it was supposed to be about the deal with investor 777 Partners.

After a catastrophic start in 2023, Hertha is in acute danger of relegation. Most recently there was the 0-2 defeat in the derby against Union Berlin. Immediately after the game, Bobic gave interviews, before the game he gave coach Sandro Schwarz a job guarantee.

Bobic switched prematurely from Eintracht Frankfurt to Hertha in the summer of 2021, succeeding long-time manager Michael Preetz (55). The Hessians are said to have received 2.5 million. After great success with Eintracht, Bobic should bring Hertha out of the relegation region and into the European Cup places.

But Bobic was not very successful in Berlin. Last year, the club only just managed to stay up in the Bundesliga relegation against HSV.

His contract in Berlin originally ran until the summer of 2024. Now the surprising Hertha-Aus.

Just a few weeks ago, Bobic had been traded as Bierhoff’s successor at the DFB. In the end, however, he declined this task. “I said: first make a profile before you approach people. For me it’s a very relaxed situation. I’m happy at Hertha, I have a demanding job and I really enjoy it. I only think of Hertha BSC, I live in the here and now. The boys, the coaching team – I’ve grown fond of them. It’s really fun for me, definitely different than a year ago,” said Bobic.
