Hertha BSC: Ngankam receives special praise – discussion about Lukébakio sale

Discussion about Lukébakio sale

Jessic Ngankam convinces, scores, collects praise from the coach and colleagues at Hertha BSC, and the homegrown player from Berlin adds another argument to the speculation about a possible departure of Dodi Lukébakio. Recently, there were several of them in the TM community.

Ngankam acts “very self-confident”, confirmed coach Sandro Schwarz after the youngster’s fourth start with the second goal. He had shown a “very good performance”. “He used everything he had in the tank. He is physically robust and started well.” Strike partner Florian Niederlechner explained (quoted via “Kicker”): “Jessic is someone who hits every ball. If you correctly interpreted how the Mainz central defenders talked, it was pretty disgusting for them.”

Niederlechner was a sideman in attack for both Ngankam and Lukébakio in the previous games. Ngankam took the place of top scorer Lukébakio against Mainz, as he had done against Augsburg and Gladbach, who in turn scored as a joker. “Both have advantages,” said Niederlechner about the colleagues, of whom the native of Berlin is more likely to be in the Hertha squad next season. His contract is valid until 2025, Lukébakios only until 2024. That is one of the reasons why the Belgian is considered a change candidate.

TM community: Hertha’s arguments for selling Lukébakio

Some in the TM community have been expecting Lukébakio to be sold in the summer for a while. If only because Hertha, as “Toto-BSC” lists, needs the money. With the short-term contract, the opportunities to generate a fee for the striker, who was committed in 2019 for 20 million euros, are disappearing. However, the long-time TM user also sees a change request from the attacker himself coming, as well as no shortage of interested parties. Lukébakio is said to have asked for a release in winter, but did not receive it. Olympique Lyon, FC Sevilla and PSV Eindhoven are traded as buyers. “He will go in the summer. Unfortunately, that also makes the most sense for everyone.”

“SerbCon” agrees with this in the discussion about Lukébakio, but also writes: “What I would wish for would be to keep him in order to finally establish a working construct. Dodi may not be the one who always goes ahead cheerfully, but he has recently shown a lot of passion and above all commitment, which is reflected in his current strong season. He behaves impeccably off the pitch and didn’t squirm in the winter, which, given the circumstances, would have been entirely possible.”

I believe that not being called up at the World Cup in winter was the trigger for his desire to change. The man played a really strong first half of the season for us, but was not invited. The deposited request for a change, after that he let his head hang in training – probably that’s why the early purchase of Niederlechner and Dodi’s bank space.
If he wants to move to be invited to the national team more often, a good offer has to come in. But for that to come in, he has to…
