Hertha BSC brings ex-Unioner Leistner

Hertha BSC has signed central defender Toni Leistner for the mission to get promoted back to the Bundesliga.

The Berliners announced on Friday evening that the 32-year-old had signed a contract until 2025.

Leistner, who has played for Hertha’s local rivals Union Berlin, 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV, among others, was most recently active at VV St. Truiden in Belgium. His contract there expired on June 30th.

“Toni is a leader who knows how to assert himself both on the ground and in the air and knows the 2nd Bundesliga very well. He also has plenty of experience that will do our team good,” said Hertha sports director Benjamin Weber.
