Herbert Hainer left his future open as President of FC Bayern for a long time. Now he has officially announced his decision.
At FC Bayern, a large personnel decision has been made at the highest management level. As the record champions announced on Monday, President Herbert Hainer will again face re -election at this year’s general meeting of FC Bayern Munich EV. For this purpose, the 71-year-old will be submitted to his candidacy at the meeting of the administrative advisory board on September 5.
“It is an honor for me to be President of FC Bayern, and I would be happy if the Administrative Advisory Board again nominates me as a candidate,” said Hainer in the club announcement. “Even as a young guy, I was in the fan block: I find it a great responsibility for all of us to continuously develop this association together with its unique fan base so that everyone can be proud of our FC Bayern.” For the former “Adidas” board, it would be the third three-year term as President of the main association. His nomination and choice are considered a matter of form.
Hainer took over the office at the 2019 annual general meeting by Uli Hoeneß and had been re -elected three years later. There was no opponent. The President of the main association is also the chairman of the powerful supervisory board of FC Bayern Munich AG, which among other things belongs to Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Hainer has been a member of this committee since 2002.
The general meeting of FC Bayern Munich EV is scheduled to take place this year on the weekend from October 31 to November 2. The exact termination takes place after the kick-off time of the then planned Bundesliga home game against Bayer Leverkusen. In addition to Hainer, the 1st Vice President Dieter Mayer and 2nd Vice President Walter Mennekes also want to compete.
Because while Hainer himself always kept covered in his future, T-Online learned from the club’s closest management area that there was already a clear trend at that time. The unanimous tenor, which was heard, was and reads: Hainer should stay and be voted as president again.
As can be heard further, the 71-year-old is especially valued internally especially for his quiet hand, with which he leads the club. Therefore, there was and is no reason from the club side that Hainer could or should. Almost a year ago, Hainer had announced in an interview with T-Online: “As President of FC Bayern, I have a lot of fun as President. As long as this is the case.” With the message from Monday, there is now also the official confirmation that this will be the case in the next three years.
