Herberg ‘t Plein in Meppel has a ‘nice field of presenters’ for the sports quiz

The sports quiz in Herberg ‘t Plein is an event for many sports enthusiasts from the wider Meppel area, which is looked forward to with great interest every year. They can indulge themselves again in March, because the script has been definitively completed. The preliminary rounds are scheduled for Wednesdays March 6, 13 and 20. The final evening will be on Wednesday, March 27 in the catering establishment on Prinsengracht. The event always starts at 8:30 PM and eternal glory awaits the winner.

Innkeeper Jaap de Boer has captured another ‘beautiful field of presenters’. The opening evening is presented by Gio Lippens. At the beginning of this month, after the cyclo-cross world championships in the Czech Republic, he ended his job as a sports reporter for the NOS. After 35 years of service, 31 of which as a cycling commentator, the Steenwijk resident is now enjoying his retirement.

For the second evening, De Boer brings the captain of PEC Zwolle, Bram van Polen, to Meppel. He played his 500th match for the Zwolle team last Sunday in the IJsselderby against Go Ahead Eagles. Van Polen is accompanied by reporter Bert van Losser van RTV East .

Former tennis professional Jacco Eltingh presents the third preliminary round. He is now a familiar face in the inn and will undoubtedly entertain the audience this year with beautiful anecdotes from his impressive career. Sports reporter Sierd de Vos has agreed to cooperate for the final evening. The Ziggo commentator is known for his knowledge of Spanish football and the unique style he uses as a football commentator.

A permanent part of the event – prior to the individual quiz – is the battle for teams for the Bjorn Westera Trophy, in memory of the Meppeler who died far too young. His good friend Abe Wolting provides the presentation. The winning team wins a voucher of 350 euros.

Anyone who wants to participate in the individual quiz or participate with a team can register at the bar of Herberg ‘t Plein on the Prinsengracht or by email: [email protected]
