While Jule Brand is fighting for the European Championship title, her brother is preparing for the coming season. Felix Brand recently switched from the field to the sidelines.

On Wednesday, Germany will meet Spain in the European Championship semi-final-with Jule Brand. The 22-year-old is one of the central figures in the German team, shines with speed, technology and the risk of offensive. She has been wearing VfL Wolfsburg jersey since 2023. After the tournament in Switzerland, her time at the German runner -up ends. Brand moves to Olympique Lyon, one of the top clubs in European women’s football.

The fact that Jule Brand starts in football is hardly surprising in the family. Because her brother Felix Brand is also committed to sport – albeit in another way.

The 24-year-old played at FSV Zwickau in the 3rd league from 2021 to 2023. Then he moved to the Oberliga Rhineland-Palatinate/Saar to TuS Mechtersheim. Over time, however, Felix Brand contracted several injuries, which is why he was reoriented professionally. Leaving his active career as a football professional behind, he hit a coaching career.

Felix Brand is now assistant coach. He has been employed by VFC Plauen since April, a club that has been fighting for survival in sports last season. At Brand’s debut in the Regionalliga Northeast, the bottom of Plauen at the time was 0-0 against Babelsberg. But in the end it wasn’t enough. Plauen rose. Now Felix Brand, together with head coach Sedat Gören, is supposed to drive the club in the Oberliga Nordost-Süd again.

So while Jule Brand acts at the top international level and won bronze at the 2024 Olympics, Felix Brand is working on his coaching career – with passion, ambition and the understanding of football, which is apparently anchored in the family. At the beginning of August, Plauen guested at the 1st FC Lok Stendal on the first match day.
