Henny Huisman is seriously disappointing with his regular column in Tim Klijn’s radio show. The TV veteran was clearly out of shape and disappointed his colleagues. “He really wasn’t good today.”
The hip Radio 538 has a fresh sound in the morning: no longer Wietze de Jager, but Tim Klijn now provides the most important radio show in all of Talpa. Next to him in the studio are Niels van Baarlen and Rick Romijn, the former sidekicks of Edwin Evers. Until recently, the trio could be heard on Radio Veronica and their favorite sections have moved with them.
Dog for sale
One of those sections is a joke section, in which a number of celebrities alternately try to tell a good joke. Henny Huisman also belongs to that group, but his position now seems to be in danger. He has in the broadcast yesterday namely told such a bad joke that Rick wonders if they still want to continue with him.
Henny’s joke was about a dog that can secretly listen and talk, and has therefore been used for years at all kinds of international top meetings – after all, no one knew that the dog was some kind of spy. Now that dog is for sale for 10 euros. Why so few? The owner: “Because he talks loudly, he has never left the garden!”
Bad clue
That punchline of Henny’s joke is just not funny at all, think Tim, Niels and Rick. What follows is a, for them, very sparing burst of laughter. Half an hour later they come back to it when a critical listener remarks: “You are such old cocks and then you also go get Henny.”
Rick then remarks seriously, so not meant to be funny: “I must say: Henny was not well today.”
Tim: “No, Henny was ehh…”
Nervous
Niels then immediately tries to save Henny. “Henny was also nervous. Remember us at six? That wasn’t good either, no.”
He means that Tim, Rick and Niels started their first broadcast at six o’clock in the morning rather clumsily. Still, Rick is concerned: “I’ll call Henny right away, like: ‘Next week a good one…’ Unless he has a good joke in a moment!”
TV comeback
It is not clear whether Henny will get another chance from Tim’s radio show. Anyway, he will soon be seen as a candidate in the new season of the elderly travel show Beter Laat Dan Nooit. His candidacy was accidentally leaked through Talpa’s advertising department and the other candidates are not yet known.
In any case, they are not Johan Derksen, André van Duin or Jacques d’Ancona, according to Henny. “It is forbidden to talk about that anymore. In fact, they did not want this story out yet.”
