On March 25, 2022, well over 10,000 Fridays for Future demonstrators marched to the Reichstag in Berlin. On Friday, only a small group of 70 activists came to protest against the expansion of the A100 on the Hatun-Sürücü Bridge. Also present: climate icon Luisa Neubauer (26).

There was no blockage of the bridge roadway. The protesters stayed well-behaved on the sidewalk, so the police, who arrived with five police cars, did not have to intervene.

“What do you want? Climate justice,” protesters shouted loudly. Luisa Neubauer: “What we need is a government that follows up on announcements about climate protection with action.” It doesn’t matter which government it is, she added. The expansion of the city motorway, on the other hand, is “a policy of yesterday”.

The climate activists shouted: “We don’t want a motorway, we want to ride a bike”. But there were also passers-by with different opinions. A local resident said that the Autobahn was good for him. It is time that it was finally expanded to Lichtenberg and the ring closed.
