The MLP Academics Heidelberg achieved a much-needed victory in the Basketball Bundesliga.
Head coach Joonas Iisalo’s team prevailed in the basement duel against bottom team Hakro Merlins Crailsheim with 93:86 (46:44) and temporarily left the relegation zone with their second win of the season.
Jeffrey Carroll was the outstanding player for the guests with 28 points, who now have a record of 2:6 wins after eight games.
At Crailsheim, Leo Westermann impressed with 19 points, seven rebounds and ten assists, but the Frenchman couldn’t prevent the defeat at the start of new head coach Jussi Laakso – it was also the seventh in a row for the Merlins.
