Three times provincial champion and once champion of Belgium: the young cycling talent Wout Veuchelen (15) from Werchter seemed well on his way to following in the footsteps of his father, ex-professional and winner of Dwars Door Vlaanderen in 2006, Frederik Veuchelen. “But at the end of last year, heart problems were found during some tests,” he says. “It is uncertain whether I will ever be allowed to race again. I hope so, but I’m not going to take any risks.”
