Amsterdam – The Central Planning Bureau (CPB) expects that people will visit the doctor more if the deductible is reduced from €385 to €165 per year in 2027 because they will then be less hindered by a high bill. And that is a problem, because the healthcare sector is already having difficulty with all healthcare questions. But there is still a lot to be gained by no longer providing unnecessary care, says health economist Xander Koolman: “A lot of the care we provide is ineffective. We have to stop that.”
