Donyell Malen is one of the problem children at Borussia Dortmund. Although the Dutchman has not yet taken off during his time at BVB, head coach Edin Terzic still believes in the attacker.
Borussia Dortmund had secured the services of Donyell Malen in the summer of 2021 for around 30 million euros.
The 23-year-old is still waiting in vain for his breakthrough with the black and yellow. In the current season, the Oranje professional could only score in the DFB Cup game against third division team 1860 Munich (3-0).
BVB coach Terzic: “We know that he will score at some point”
“Donny knows what I expect from him,” said BVB head coach Edin Terzic.picture” clear: “He has incredible skills, but is very unhappy when he doesn’t score. That has bothered him a lot in the last few months.”
But Malen still has the backing of his trainer. “We know that he will eventually score. It’s only a matter of time. When he regains his confidence it will be easier for Donny to show his qualities,” said Terzic.

BVB sports director Kehl counts times
In November, the offensive player was still counted by Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl. “His goal tally is not satisfactory, that’s obvious,” the BVB manager told the “Ruhr Nachrichten” at the time.
“His performance is not yet where he wants to be and we see him with his abilities, but we believe in him,” Kehl said: “There is only one way to change that: hard work. If he goes this way, he will also really help us,” said the 42-year-old about Malen, who is under contract in Dortmund until 2026.
