The rumor mill about Simon Pytlick’s move from SG Flensburg-Handewitt to Füchse Berlin continues to bubble up. Stefan Kretzschmar, Berlin’s former sports director, now gave explosive insights.

“Now I have to be careful because I know the processes and the Simon Pytlick case pretty well,” Kretzschmar said in the “Kretzsche & Schmiso” vodcast.

The 52-year-old added: “The foxes have not only been dealing with Simon Pytlick just now, but for a few years.” Back then, the capital city club would not have had the “economic opportunities” that they have today.

Kretzschmar further classified the possible mega-deal: “It is clear that Pytlick extended his contract last year until 2030. It is now also known through the statement from Flensburg that he has an exit clause for 2027. For a high transfer fee, which is rumored and not known.”

The former national player considers it unrealistic that Pytlick will move to the Füchse in 2026. “I can’t confirm that and I don’t know why Flensburg should give him up in 2026,” he emphasized.

The transfer fee for 2027 is already high. The foxes would probably have to pay significantly more for the coming summer.

Flensburg could compensate for Pytlick’s departure

Kretzschmar didn’t want to completely rule out a change after the current season. “If a team in the world could compensate for a possible departure of Simon Pytlick, it is SG Flensburg-Handewitt. Because they have two there with Lasse Möller and Marko Grgic. They have three of the top 10 best half-lefts in the world in their squad right now,” said the expert.

If Pytlick and compatriot Mathias Gidsel played together for the Foxes, Kretzschmar said a spectacle would be guaranteed: “You don’t have to be a prophet.”

However, the long-time Füchse board member noted: “It is an absolute challenge economically. If it comes to that, you can only congratulate the Füchse on having managed this deal.”
