Things are currently going very well for Constantin Möstl and the TBV Lemgo Lippe handball players. In the interview, the goalkeeper talks about the reasons for the high, about his friend Lukas Hutecek and how he wants to win the European Championship game against Germany with Austria in January.

Last Wednesday, the handball players of TBV Lemgo Lippe put the next exclamation mark on their season, which has been so successful so far: TBV made it into the Final Four tournament in Leipzig in April 2026. One of the guarantees for reaching the final is Constantin Möstl, the Lipper goalkeeper, who once again contributed to the victory with his saves.

“I think it’s a dream for every player in Germany to be part of this final tournament. The fact that I managed to do that in my second season is of course particularly cool,” said Möstl in an interview with WDR.

Möstl hardly needed it Adjustment period

Almost exactly two years ago, TBV secured the services of the 25-year-old Austrian. It was a small coup, because the Lipper Scouts had already made the deal with Möstl’s selling club, the Austrian first division team Alpla HC Hard, clear before the national goalkeeper then played a brilliant European Championship.

Lukas Hutecek and Constantin Möstl

Möstl quickly built on the strong performances in the national team at his new club in Germany. The transition to the Bundesliga didn’t seem to cause him any major problems. This was also because the Viennese native met his old friend Lukas Hutecek in Lemgo, who had been playing in Lemgo for several years.

Close friendship with Lukas Hutecek

“Lukas helped me a lot at the beginning. I give him a lot of credit for that. He showed me everything, how the training goes, what the group dynamics are like. Without him, it would have taken me longer to get used to it,” says Möstl about the backcourt player, with whom he has been friends since school. “Sometimes we joke that we spend 334 of the 365 days in the year together. That’s cool, and we appreciate that too.”

In any case, according to Möstl, the team structure is one of the most important reasons for the Lemgo success story. “We all get along well with each other, there are no intrigues in the team. So it’s relatively easy to perform when you know that everyone is there for each other,” says Möstl, whose father Werner was also a professional goalkeeper.

Four points for Annual financial statements

Constantin Möstl and his teammates want to use this good team spirit twice this year and win the last two games in December. Saturday is the western duel at Bergischen HC (7 p.m.), who the TBV could also meet in the Final Four in April. At the end of the year we will play against HSG Wetzlar, who are second to last in the table. Four points are within reach.

This would mean that the Bundesliga’s surprise team would start the new year in at least third place and consolidate its ambitions for international business. “But we’re not putting any pressure on ourselves. Of course it’s in our heads that we want to play in Europe next season. But we don’t have to yet,” says the Austrian, who is now one of the crowd’s favorites in coach Florian Kehrmann’s team.

Looking forward to Germany game

The keeper will continue his international work in January, on the very big stage of the European Championships. Spicy: Möstl and Austria will meet the German national team right at the start on January 15th.

“The pressure in this game is not on us. It is on Germany and Spain. We can certainly make a profit from it. We are no longer such a small handball country that we have to hide,” says Möstl and the anticipation of the next major handball event is clearly noticeable in him.
