After three months of injury break, Kai Havertz returned to the lawn for FC Arsenal. The German international was substituted in the 76th minute in the 1-0 (0: 0) success over Newcastle United. The 25-year-old saw the yellow card shortly before the end for a foul.

The offensive player had seriously injured his thigh in February and had been out since then. At first, a seasonal season was even feared. It is open whether Havertz may still be considered for the final round of the Nations League. The DFB selection in the semi-finals will meet Portugal on June 4 in Munich.

Champions League semi-finalist Arsenal won through a remarkable goal by Declan Rice in the 55th minute. Thanks to the success of the table runners -up over the direct pursuer, the Londoners are now five points ahead of Newcastle one match day before the end and have been sure to take part in Europe’s premier class – 2nd place.

The Gunners still have to be patient to celebrate the vice championship title. With Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa, the following places no longer come to Arsenals 71 points, but theoretically the currently sixth -placed Manchester City could still catch up. To do this, Arsenal would have to lose the last game and the Citizens would have to win their two remaining games against Bournemouth and Fulham as high as possible. The gap to Arsenal is six points and ten goals.
