Hats off to cheering Steven Berghuis, Ajax coach John Heitinga is waiting for a tour

The faces at Ajax have been a lot happier for a few weeks now. After the 3-1 victory over RKC Waalwijk, Steven Berghuis joined the press conference and explained his special way of cheering. The Ajax player put a cap of someone from the audience on his head.

It indicates that the mood of the Ajax players is good. Although the match against RKC Waalwijk was difficult, the team from Amsterdam is in a neat third place, only three points behind leader Feyenoord. Ajax has now won all three matches in a row.

“It would have been a shame if we had played a draw against RKC in this series,” says Berghuis. The discharge at Berghuis was therefore great after giving the assist to Mohammed Kudus. With that, Ajax ended the game.

“I need to get a tour soon”

Ajax coach John Heitinga

For trainer John Heitinga it meant his first match as head coach of Ajax in the Johan Cruijff Arena. Alfred Schreuder’s successor drove towards the stadium with a special feeling. “A very proud moment when you park your car at the head coach’s spot,” says Heitinga. “I have to get a tour soon. I don’t know every room here yet. It was also the first time for me.”
