“I don’t want to be a strange ghost” – Radcliffe speaks openly about why he gives the new “Harry Potter” cast free rein and what advice he gives the new Harry.
The new “Harry Potter” series is scheduled to appear in spring 2027, and more and more information about the cast, crew and recently also the music of the new production is emerging. The expectations of the fans are constantly increasing – and with it the pressure on social media that is on the young new line-ups. Harry Potter is played by Dominic McLaughlin, Ron Weasley by Alastair Stout and Hermione Granger by Arabella Stanton.
For many fans, the former leading actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are seen as influential figures against whom the new cast must be measured. But that’s not in Radcliffe’s interest. In a video interview with “ScreenRant” He now explains that he doesn’t want to be “a strange ghost” hovering over the new production – and in particular over the lives and work of the young actors.

Last year, Radcliffe wrote a letter to his successor Dominic McLaughlin and offered him support. McLaughlin, for his part, was thrilled to receive a message from his famous predecessor. Rupert Grint also mentioned in an interview with “BBC” that he had contacted the new Ron actor Alastair Stout.
Satisfied with the replacement
All three actors from the films are happy with the new roles in their former roles and wish their successors only the best. Radcliffe is even convinced that Dominic McLaughlin will do better than himself, as he emphasizes in the interview.
Radcliffe’s advice to the young actors is to get along well with the crew. These were his most important people when he was growing up on the set of “Harry Potter”.
Everything new
The “Harry Potter” series is a completely new adaptation with different actors, emphasizes Radcliffe. In fact, almost all roles have been recast. In addition, unlike books and films, the series should not only show Harry’s perspective, but also give space to other characters: for example, the antagonist Draco Malfoy should be given his own narrative perspective.
Even though it still seems surreal for Radcliffe that “Harry Potter” will soon be back on many people’s screens, he is looking forward to the new series – and even wants to show it to his own children. He doesn’t really like seeing himself in his role as Harry Potter.
