TV chef Harri Syrjänen caught on to the sausage trend, which the HK restaurant warned about being dangerous.

A chef known from TV Harri Syrjänen57, posted a video on Saturday in which he roasted a HK blue Lenk with a plastic package on a sauna heater.

– Those edges curl up a bit, but it should be good, Syrjänen said in his video while the sausage was cooking.

Another sausage slipped from the melting plastic package onto the stones of the stove when Syrjänen picked up the package. Syrjänen was satisfied with the taste of the sausage, and according to him, the plastic did not taste good in it.

Shortly after the publication of Syrjæs, HK warned on Facebook that this should not be done.

– The plastic packaging of the product is not designed to withstand the heat of the stove, and if it melts on the stove stones, the packaging can catch fire with an open flame. Melted plastic packaging can also spoil a product meant to be eaten, HK emphasized.

Syrjänen commented

Syrjänen tells Iltalehti that he got the idea for his video when he said earlier in the podcast that he fried plastic-wrapped blue Lenk in his youth.

– In my youth it was a normal way. I’ve done it many times and it had worked before. That plastic was so durable that there was no need for a so-called foil bag, the chef explains.

Syrjæsse’s speeches were not believed in the podcast, so he decided to try his childhood sausage roast today.

– Now it was found that it doesn’t work anymore. And of course it’s not worth doing when there are all kinds of risks, he adds.

Syrjänen reminds that in his youth, HK’s sausage packages were not made for frying.

According to the bystander, he had a fire extinguishing blanket close by while making the frying video in case of a dangerous situation. According to Syrjæs, his video was made tongue-in-cheek, so to speak, and he doesn’t want anyone to repeat what he did.

Syrjänen has not followed whether his video has sparked a discussion. According to Syrjæs, his video should be deleted at that point if it causes a clear security risk.

– In no way do I want to encourage people to do this. If they want to watch an entertaining video about frying a sausage on the stove, then it’s worth watching. But if you want to learn how to fry a sausage, then it’s the wrong video for that.

The extraneous video was published on the same day that the Kalasatama fire started from the balcony of the fourth floor. Although Syrjæs’ video is in no way related to the Kalasatama fire, the chef admits that the timing of his update could have been better.

– But I haven’t followed the news that actively. Unfortunately, fires happen almost every day.

Syrjänen assures that this is the last time he will fry sausages with plastic packaging.

– There was no point in it other than making a funny video for my social media followers. But maybe not everyone thought it was funny either. Some people might think it’s bad and then I have to humbly apologize if I’ve failed. Let’s monitor the situation, says the chef.

– Do not fry sausage in plastic on the stove, not in the oven, and not in a frying pan. It doesn’t make any sense, he reminds us in the end.
