Daphne Bunskoek may feel passed over by RTL 4 now that the channel is expressly looking for external faces to fill in for Renze Klamer, according to Tina Nijkamp. “Awkward!”

Almost the entire star stable of WNL came to audition at RTL during Pentecost for the position of Renze Klamer’s substitute, says RTL Boulevard. Sam Hagens, Welmoed Sijtsma, Frank van Leeuwen: they were all allowed to run a pilot according to the show section. The fact that this has come out is highly uncomfortable, says Tina Nijkamp.

Talk show ambitions

Tina can imagine that this creates kinnesinne. “Why does RTL actually look outside for a replacement? Because they have quite a lot of presenters there who may also have talk show ambitions. I think they do that because it feels like a kind of fresh, new beginning, but you may wonder whether that is wise.”

She continues in her podcast Tina’s TV Update: “They also have all kinds of people walking around. This is of course not fun for Leonie ter Braak. She is now being pushed aside. I also received a lot of messages asking: what is going to happen to her? That is not fun for her if you bring it from outside.”

Fluy Renze

RTL should start this process much later, Tina thinks. “If Renze suddenly gets the flu, you can always use a Leonie, Beau or Humberto. There are a lot of people there. It’s all funny, also for the people within RTL. It could put the relations within RTL on edge a bit, like: ‘Why was I skipped?’

What do you mean? “I would have liked to do this too!” Maybe Marieke Elsinga – I don’t think so, because she is busy with her morning show – will say: ‘Well, I would actually have liked to be a replacement too.’”

Would Daphne?

Perhaps Daphne Bunskoek also has ambitions outside of RTL Boulevard, says Tina. “Maybe, and I don’t think that’s the case, but it could just be possible, a Daphne Bunskoek who says: ‘Hey, I would have liked that too.’ I just don’t think it was done smartly at all.”

She concludes: “If it is indeed Sam, Frank and Welmoed, then that is approximately the entire Good Morning Netherlands team. The question is: have they been open about this to WNL and to each other? All in all this just feels very unpleasant for everyone involved.”
