Happiness and emotion among seniors during Christmas show in Equestrian Center Exloo

Jumping horses, acrobatic exercises and music, a good combination to create a spectacular Christmas show. To close 2023, Equestrian Center Exloo has organized a show, especially for seniors, informal caregivers and supervisors living in Drenthe.

During the show, various demonstrations with horses were provided that were well received by the seniors. Lieuwe Koopmans from Equestrian Center Exloo believes it is important that a show is organized for this target group. “The audience is the most beautiful, they are all 70+. It is very simple, it will soon be Christmas and this target group is often alone and does not have much to do. Soon the children and grandchildren will come to visit and then they will also have Christmas to tell a story.”

Three shows have been organized over the past two days. “All shows are full, with 600 people present each,” Koopmans says proudly. The seniors are also looking forward to it. “It is wonderful that this is being done, as older people we don’t go to that many places anymore. We are very happy with this,” says Klazien Talen, visitor to the Christmas show.

“I’m surprised today! I expect a lot of horses,” says Harry Krabben, visitor to the show. Krabben can only think of one word for this afternoon, he calls it ‘great’. Upon arrival, visitors were treated to music by a harpist, which immediately left Krabben wanting more. “I’ve already seen a stage, so I hope there is more music.”
