Hannover 96: Sports director Mann optimistic about the future of Muroya

Convincing start to the season

On the right side of Hannover 96, the 16-times Japanese national player Sei Muroya recently prevailed against Jannik Dehm and is currently an indispensable part of coach Stefan Leitl’s starting line-up – the 28-year-old has scored two goals and one assist in the last five games for the Lower Saxony. Sports director Marcus Mann was now positive about the future of the defender.

Muroya, who moved from FC Tokyo to Hanover in 2020 for 50,000 euros, still has a contract at 96 until next summer. In the case of the right-hand foot, who had not scored a goal for “Die Roten” in two years before, the knot in sport seems to have burst in his third year – when asked about his recent performance, Mann explained in the “picture“-Zeitung: “Sei has been performing very well for weeks. It’s super gratifying that it’s effective now too. As a full-back, you have to be involved in goals.” With a view to the future of the Japanese, who has not been undisputed in Hanover in recent years, the sporting director hinted at talks: “We regularly exchange ideas. Both sides know what they have in each other.”
