96 pays training compensation

The first signing from Hannover 96 for the 2023/24 season is Marius Wörl (19). According to the club, the U19 national player is coming from the third division club TSV 1860 Munich on a free transfer and will receive a contract that runs until 2026. The “Bild” newspaper recently reported that the Reds have to pay training compensation of around 100,000 euros to the “Lions”.

96 sports director Marcus Mann says: “With him we are consistently continuing on our path of focusing on young talents with prospects. In the second half of the season, Marius established himself in the starting eleven at 1860 Munich. For his age he has come a long way in his development. We already believe he is capable of making the leap into the second division, but it could also be an option for him to be loaned out again for the coming season in order to gain match practice.”

The Lower Saxony confirm that “a loan back to Wörl’s previous club 1860 Munich” was in the room, “but no agreement was reached.” Wörl made the leap to the professionals this season and made 18 appearances in the 3rd division Use and debuted in November for Germany U19.

Wörl on his new club: “Right from the start I had the right feeling that I could take the next step at Hannover 96. This season in particular there have been enough examples to show that 96 is a very good address for young players.” Six players aged 21 or younger played for the Reds this season.
