Hanfmann fails in the second round in Shanghai

Tennis professional Yannick Hanfmann missed the third round of the ATP Masters in Shanghai despite leading the set. Against the world number 32. Christopher Eubanks from the USA lost to Karlsruhe 6:4, 3:6, 2:6.

After an intense 2:08 hours, Eubanks converted his first match point and will now face French Open finalist Casper Ruud.

The recently in-form hemp man missed out on causing a similar surprise in Shanghai as he did at the Masters in Rome, when he made it to the quarter-finals. He is the second German professional to be eliminated from the tournament – Daniel Altmaier had already suffered in the first round.

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev and German number two Jan-Lennard Struff only enter the tournament in the second round thanks to a bye.

Zverev will face Roman Safiullin from Russia on Friday afternoon, while Struff will face Matteo Arnaldi (Italy) on Saturday.
