The German handball players miss out on European Championship bronze. Although they repeatedly come dangerously close to the Swedes, their nerves fail at the crucial moment.
Germany loses the game for third place. In the end, Alfred Gislason’s team had to admit defeat to the Swedes 34:31.
At halftime the DHB team was already six goals behind. In the second half they started a brave comeback, but in the end it wasn’t rewarded.
The consequence: The Germans not only miss the bronze medal, but also direct Olympic qualification.
