Handball Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt brings back Ljubomir Vranjes

Handball Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt is continuing its realignment at management level. As the club announced, former coach Ljubomir Vranjes will return to SG as sporting director for the 2023/24 season.

First, the NDR had reported on the commitment of the 49-year-old Swede. “Ljubomir Vranjes brings enormous international expertise to Flensburg. He is well networked throughout Europe and has a lot of experience – not least from his early days at SG,” said Flensburg Managing Director Holger Glandorf.

Vranjes worked as a player and coach in Flensburg from 2006 to 2017. After a stint with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen, he most recently coached the French club USAM Nimes.

HBL: SG Flensburg-Handewitt releases Christiansen after Machulla

Three weeks ago, the SG, which had previously released coach Maik Machulla, signed the Dane Nicolej Krickau as the new coach.

Glandorf: “The first process of processing the current season has shown that, in addition to Nicolej Krickau’s appointment as a coach, we need further new impetus in the sporting area.”

For this, the SG ends the cooperation with Lars Christiansen, who last worked as the coordinator of the licensed team. Fourth in the table, trained by interim coach Mark Bult, will play his penultimate game of the season at HC Erlangen on Thursday (7:05 p.m. / Sky).
