Dietmar Hamann is calling for a change of position from Joshua Kimmich at Bayern with a view to the coming season.
With Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in the midfield center, FC Bayern will not win the Champions League, the thesis of Dietmar Hamann was in the “Doppelpass” at “Sport1”.
The ex-international therefore called for head coach Vincent Kompany to put Kimmich back on the right defense. So its predecessor Thomas Tuchel did it at FC Bayern during his time.
Kimmich also plays in the national team under Julian Nagelsmann right in the chain of four, Hamann recalled.
As part of his criticism, the TV expert referred to the Munich quarter-finals in the Champions League against Inter Milan (1: 2 and 2: 2). Kimmich and Goretzka could have “not withstand” in midfield against Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu.
In the 2020 Champions League victory, Kimmich also acted as a right-back at the final tournament in Lisbon, Hamann explained his argument. The then Munich chief coach Hansi Flick had actually set in midfield on Thiago and Goretzka.

According to Hamann, Aleksandar Pavlovic should be the focus in the future. “And then you have to see that you can find one next to Pavlovic because a Goretzka, Kimmich, Gnabry, Coman, you wanted to sell them all last season. That was why you wanted to sell it,” said the TV expert.
Hamann also criticized the costly contract extension of FC Bayern with Kimmich (until 2029). The German record champion would have “never allowed to extend the 30-year-old working paper on these conditions,” said the 2005 Champions League winner.
