C.how to spend Halloween? Between parties, disguises, pumpkins and even (indeed absolutely!) horror movie. And this year there is something to indulge in as the lucky ones, instead of just celebrating October 31st, can enjoy a bridge that runs from the weekend until November 1st. And just about Halloween movie, here are the 5 recent movies (+ 1) to watch now. Not only fear, there are at stake strong emotions.

Halloween Ends

It is the latest chapter in the trilogy of David Gordon Green started with Halloween in 2018, continuation of the saga that has lasted since 1978. In the film, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), on the track from the first film, definitively closes with Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), or at least hopefully. She closes with the serial killer and with a character with whom she will forever be identified (like Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker And Harrison Ford /Indiana Jones).

Unlike traditional Halloween movies, Halloween Ends develops a more plot psychological and romantic. In fact, it gives great space to the family implications of Laurie Strodewho now lives with his niece Allyson (Andi Matichak), in love with Corey (Rohan Campbell). Precisely this setting “More sentimental” it made many fans turn up their noses. David Gordon Green he explained: “We never thought about making a film about Michael And Laurie. For us it couldn’t be a simple final fist fight. I wanted to do something that no one could expect, or a love story“.

Having said that, neither blood nor ample disgust is lackingand of course, being the last battle between heroine and hero, the final fight (?) between Laurie and Myers is an anthology.

To see at cinema.

Black Phone

Considered one of the best horror films of recent years, Black Phone(adaptation of a short story by Joe Hillson of art Stephen King) is the product of a team of “number one” in the horror genre: Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) And C. Robert Cargill. (the saga Sinister). In the cast, a great one stands out Ethan Hawke, fantastic and unrecognizable, in the (even too realistic) role of the Raptorsadistic pedophile serial killer with a demonic mask. The Raptor is the symbol of pure evil. And here he terrorizes a city in the north of Denver, Colorado.

It all starts when Finney Shaw (Mason Thames), very intelligent, but shy and bullied 13-year-old boy, is kidnapped by Raptor, who locks him in a soundproofed basement, where screams are of little use. When a disconnected phone starts ringing on the wall, Finney he discovers he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And it is the souls of the other children who do everything so that what happened to them does not happen to Finney. Finney’s little sister stands out among the actors, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).

Perfect for Halloweenhowever, the film has the ability to go beyond horror. In fact, it speaks of the world of the little ones. “Tell the strength of the children», Explained the director Derrickson, “Their ability to believe in invisible forces and the strength of family and love to withstand even the darkest and most unimaginable events. It does not only stage the traumas that can plague childhood, but also the resilience of children“. “It’s a coming-of-age film, interrupted by a horror film,” he added Cargill.

Available on Tim Vision, Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten Tv, Chili, Google Play, Apple Itunes.

Jaula

This Spanish thriller focuses on Paula (Elena Anaya) And Simon (Pablo Molinero) who, returning home after a dinner, bump into the little girl Clara (Eva Tennear), a little girl blatantly traumatized. The two take her to the authorities. But, after a few days, seeing that no one reports the girl’s disappearance, they decide to welcome her to her home. They want to understand who she is, where she comes from, why she’s so upset.

They soon discover that she is obsessed with an alleged monsterready to punish her every time she tries to cross an ideal square of chalk drawn on the ground. Paula create with Clara a bond so strong as to be able to delve into the troubled personality of the little girl.

The film affects the horror and the supernatural, but it also affects the ability to delineate psychological dramas well of the protagonists. Directorial debut in feature films by the Spaniard Ignacio Tatay (who also wrote the script for the film with Isabel Peña), Jaula garnered positive reviews from critics.

Monstrous

Dark atmospheres, doors slamming, demons suddenly appearing, in Monstrous there is the synthesis and the best of the horror genre. Perfect for a Halloween under the banner of blackest fear. But in this film directed by Chris Sivertson (the same one who in 2013 signed the female horror comedy All Cheerleaders Die), to give that extra gothic touch, is the presence of Christina Ricci. (formerly Wednesday Addams and now part of the series Yellowjacketsin the perverse role of Misty)

In Monstrous Ricci interprets Laura (Christina Ricci), a 1950s woman who runs away from her ex-husband along with Cody, the 7-year-old son. The two go to live in a house near a lake. They are delighted until Laura receives a phone call from her husband. The thing upsets her. But the worst is that Cody begins to see one strange, monstrous creature. Laura at first he thinks it’s an invention, but then he realizes that that supernatural presence is real and deeply malignant. Laura thus begins a path, even interior, that leads her to face hers demons. Personal and real.
