The Yvonne family is involved in Hope and despair in YLE’s new documentary series.

When Finnish Yvonnen Lilly-The daughter was born 20 minutes later on her twin brother, her face blinked. Yvonne had a pregnant child of heart, so lilly and Liam It was also examined immediately after birth.
The doctor listened to Lily’s heart sounds for a long time.
– At that point, I already foreseed evil, Yvonne recalls at the beginning of the Yale today Hope and despair in the new series.
Lilly was transferred to the children’s intensive care unit. The cardiologist told Yvonne that Lilly had an HLHS heart failure.
– Left chamber hypoplasia. The left ventricle of the heart was under development. At Lilly, it was like raisin, non -existent.
– The cardiologist planted us down and told us that we had two options. The first option is care, Yvonne recalls.
Another option was to provide active treatment. This would mean at least three planned surgery. 20 % of patients do not survive the first surgery.
Lilly had the first heart surgery at a week old. Big brother Milian was made a balloon expansion as a toddler. General
Yvonne was facing a big decision.
– I stuck to the 20 % that he would die. I can’t let my baby die alone on the operating table. I remove all the hoses and take him home to death, Yvonne remembers thinking.
Parents talked to the surgeon. The surgeon told the cold facts about the surgery and said how the parents would decide, the decision would be right for them.
– We had to decide whether to die or whether to fight for survival, Yvonne says.
Yvonne weighed the matter from many angles. What if the child lived but suffered? What if the child was bitter as a teenager that his life is difficult? Is it right to let the siblings attach to a little sister who might die? On the other hand, how to explain to a big brother to a heart disease, why did he live but his sister doesn’t?
Eventually Lilly was cut at a week old. Lilly survived.
Yvonne has a total of five children, all of whom have ADHD. Some also have other diagnoses. General
Today, 7-year-old Lilly is the youngest of the five siblings. In addition to his heart disease, he has a CP injury. Big brother Milian is also a heart child, Viggo In turn is with autism spectrum. All five children in the family have ADHD.
