Ted Berkhout from De Weere is attentive on Saturday evening and looks at how his child jumps into the ditches. “They are all on football and have steel in the calves. That’s why they save this. Afraid for the laundry? He’s not wearing much. We’ll throw it in the click afterwards,” he says with a wink. “The youth is looking forward to this, really.”
One of the striking participants is Opmeer alderman Robert Tesselaar. He also completes the course of just under five kilometers. After a fresh shower from the fire brigade, he happily reports.
‘Piece of Folklore in the municipality of Opmeer’
“I ran through pastures, jumped through ditches, I was stuck in the reeds. But I enjoyed it. On the way it was also fun with other participants.”
“This is fair De Weere,” says Tesselaar. “A piece of folklore in the municipality of Opmeer that I am proud of. The fun is splashing. People are enjoying each other in the front garden and participants are encouraged. Really fantastic to see.”
