It is summer recess in The Hague. During this period between the fall of the cabinet and the start of a new election campaign, we invite writers, scientists and thinkers in The Hague to talk about the political time in which we live. Because so much has happened in the past year and everything went so quickly, we would like to zoom out a bit.

This week two columnists are guests. Dilara Bilgiç wrote the books The Black Box Democracy and The labeledworks as a cultural -sensitive psychologist and writes columns for Het Parool. Maxim February wrote countless novels, essays and books, including the book in 2023 Do yourself normal. After a two -year break, he has recently been back as a columnist at NRC.

In this episode of The Hague Affairs we reflect on the role of columnist and the responsibility of (news) media, blind spots and the interfaces of psychology and politics.
