The recorders were still in the maintenance supplier in a strictly secure storage. The GVB says it has only recently discovered that. The images were ready to be destroyed.

Earlier, an investigation into a possible mistreatment was stopped in the fall of 2024 because the images had disappeared. The question is whether the investigation can be reopened. The police still have to figure out whether the images are usable and whether the incidents can actually be seen on it.

It is clear, however, that a picture of several metro stations has been found. The OM says that it concerns images of metro stations, not about material from the metro itself. Specialists ultimately made it technically possible to read the images. Possibly the police can also investigate other incidents, says a spokesperson for the OM.

Incident CS

As a result, an incident at the central station where a woman says he has been attacked by a Maccabi supporter during the so-called fanwalk for the match against Ajax, may be investigated. The OM previously reported that the investigation into the declaration had been stopped because of the disappeared images.

Now that there appears to be a picture, the OM says that the find can “have consequences for the incidents that has been reported.” The police have demanded the material and are going to study it.

GVB regrets confusion

“We are very sorry that we first indicated that we no longer had images, because the recorders were removed, and now have to conclude that these recorders have not yet been destroyed and contains images in the metro stations,” says the GVB.

“We understand that this can also be disturbing and for those directly concerned disturbing. We regret that we have not thoroughly sorted out whether the images were still available.”
