Gucci, the new creative director is Sabato De Sarno

Lannouncement comes when we least expected it, on the morning of Saturday 28 January – and perhaps it is not exactly a coincidence. Gucci has a new creative director: after the release of Alessandro Michele, in November 2022, the role left vacant will be filled by De Sarno Saturdayannounces the Maison in the orbit of the Kering group in a statement.

With the new appointment, De Sarno “assumes the responsibility of defining and expressing the creative vision of the brand in the women’s, men’s, leather goods, accessories and lifestyle collections” and will report to the CEO and president of Gucci Marco Bizzarri. His first collection will be presented during the Milan Women’s Fashion Week in September 2023.

Who is Sabato De Sarno

Grew up at Naplesbegan his career in Prada in 2005 as assistant pattern maker office for the women’s line, then moving on to Dolce&Gabbana in 2008 as head designer of the knitwear and jersey segment. Arrived from Valentine in 2009, he held positions of increasing responsibility, starting from knitwear, to arrive at the role of fashion director man and woman. Sabato De Sarno will begin his new position as soon as he has fulfilled his obligations for the fashion house led by Pierpaolo Piccioli.
