BVB coach Niko Kovac made the heat in the USA several times and, after the tremor victory against Mamelodi, spoke of players as “grill chicken”. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has no understanding for this.

Four goals scored, nevertheless frustration with Borussia Dortmund: After the narrow 4: 3 success against Mamelodi Sundowns at the club World Cup, goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was visibly dissatisfied-and found clear words.

“You can’t say a lot of positive things except for the result,” said the Swiss. “The fact is that we are certainly not allowed to get three goals. The fact is that we are not allowed to get the goals as they fall.” In the meantime, BVB had led 4: 1, but still had to tremble in the final phase.

While other Dortmund professionals referred to the high temperatures – over 30 degrees at lunchtime, Kobel did not want to accept these explanations. “It’s summer. It is clear that it’s hot there,” emphasized the 27-year-old. Of course, it is more pleasant to play with 15 degrees and drizzle. “But football is also played in summer. We have to be able to deal with that,” said Kobel.

Trainer Niko Kovač also saw improvement, but overall remained moderate in his criticism. “You have to end such games differently,” he said. At the same time, he emphasized that his players had already left the limit.

Kobel saw this very differently. “Positive is: we scored four goals. That was good. But otherwise there wasn’t much there,” said the 27-year-old. “The positioning was not right. It was similar to that in the first game: too much watching.”

Kovač had already addressed the weather conditions before the game. In order to reduce the stress, the substitute players initially remained in the air -conditioned cabin. The team also rely on cooling sticks and cold towels. “We are already thinking a lot,” said the coach. He also attributed the low game speed to the temperatures: “The players have to be fried like a grill chicken.”

Little is also likely to change in the last group game against HD Ulsan from South Africa. In Cincinnati, more than 35 degrees Celsius will be expected again on Wednesday. The kick -off is at 3 p.m. local time.
