Green-Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong thought of the late beach-boy co-founder Brian Wilson with a cover version of the 1964 hit “I get Around”. The video divided Armstrong on Instagram – the recording was created “a few years ago”, but was “never published”, as the musician explained.

“One of my absolute favorite songs ever,” wrote Armstrong under the post and thanked Wilson for his creativity. The Green-Day cover version of “I Get Around” remains largely loyal to the original surf rock sound for which Brian Wilson was known. However, it takes a punkier turn in places.
