In its amazing career, U2 have received pretty much at any cost in recent decades that the music industry makes available. But now Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. get a surprising award. They become too Ivors Academy Fellows appointed.
According to the Bee Gees, U2 are only the second volume, which is given to this honor. They are also the first Irish songwriters who entered the illustrious circle. Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush are also Ivors Academy Fellows. There are now a total of 32 fellows.
Bruce Springsteen became a winner last year. So far he was the only non-British candidate on the list alongside the American composer John Adams and French composer Pierre Boulez.

U2 have already won four Ivor Novello Awards
The award will be awarded at the event The Ivors With Amazon Music in the Grosvenor House in London on May 22nd. The nominees for this year’s Ivor Novello Award will be announced on April 23, the best known price of the Ivors Academy (formerly: British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors).
In addition to their 22 Grammys, U2 have also won four Ivor Novello Awards in the course of their career, the Special Award for International Achievement (1994), Best Song Musically and Lyrically for “Walk on” (2002), Outsanding Song Collection (2003) and International Hit of the Year for “Vertigo” (2005).
While half the world (except perhaps a few still upset Apple user) is waiting for a new album by the Irish, U2 last divided a piano piece for the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. indicated a tour next year in an interview.
