Almost half of the residents in our residential care centers take antidepressants according to a report by the Knowledge Center for Healthcare (KCE). While, according to psychiatrists, there is no reason to assume that nursing home residents are more likely to be depressed than the rest of the population. How did that happen? And what are the consequences of all those pills? “It is sad to have to conclude that medicines are the alternative to a human approach.”
